Camp NaNoWriMo and Renovation Projects

Camp NaNoWriMo started on Friday! I’m there under my typical username, planning to work on the Steampunk Cinderella story. Or I was planning. Because I kind of spent the first few days of Camp NaNoWriMo doing something else instead. Namely tearing apart my kitchen again.

Honestly this kind of works out. I’m thinking of postponing this writing until August when all the bells and whistles will be added to Camp NaNoWriMo, plus it gives me this month to finish out edits on Roses of Ash and maybe confront Nameless again. But feel free to write me a letter at camp if you’re participating, and I’ll check out your novel summary and excerpts :-)

Meanwhile, here’s the fruits of my labor over this holiday weekend:

Original pine-knot wood paneling. Gross.

Last summer; tore down paneling, put up sheetrock, installed new floor.

This last weekend. Installed wainscotting, trim, new closet door (hooray!) and painted everything blue :-)

So that’s what I’m up to and why I didn’t get anything written this weekend. Hope you all had a good and safe 4th of July!

Looks beautiful! I love the grey-blue and white. So jealous–I’m still renting and can’t play Home Makeover like I want to…so I love seeing other people’s projects!

Yeah I’m in love with the color… I had a different one picked out but then the electrician called it ‘baby blue’ and then that’s all I could think of, lol.

Playing House is soooo much fun! It’s hard work but so rewarding at the end.

Wood paneling was by far the most horrible invention ever.

And your kitchen looks so beautiful now!!! The yellow was bright and happy, true, but the new look has more depth to it. I <3 it!

It was! I don’t understand how people couldn’t /see/ that.

The yellow was happy, and I’m glad I had it for a year, but I had always intended for it to be blue so I’m good :-)

I’m pretty good with saws, and painting, but Chris is the one who knows in what order we need to do things, and how the machines work in the first place. I could never have done it all myself :-)
